Ah Brooklyn... I couldn't go last time, and i really wanted to see the Brooklyn Bridge. But i couldn't just do that and nothing else during the day ! Especially since i wanted to do it from Brooklyn to Manhattan, at sunset... So i had to fill up that day.
1) Converse Store
Je suis partie de l'appartement vers 10h30, direction le Prospect Park de Brooklyn. Mais d'abord, je voulais passer au magasin Converse - 560 Broadway, métro Prince St (N, R) - pour voir si je pouvais en faire des personnalisées... Il fallait que j'y passe au début de mon séjour, parce que le délai de réalisation est de 4 jours, donc sur 1 semaine, il ne faut pas se louper. Le magasin est assez grand, sobre, avec plein de modèles, et évidemment le célèbre mur de chaussures à l'entrée.
Finalement, je n'ai rien fait : les motifs proposés ne me plaisaient pas, ce n'était pas très original à mon goût... Et il n'y avait rien avec des chats, seulement des tigres, qui n'avaient pas l'air sympathique. On peut apporter son propre motif, mais il faut que ce soit vraiment un motif personnel, c'est-à-dire fait par vous-mêmes et non imprimé d'internet, pour des raisons de droits d'auteur. Et comme je ne sais pas dessiner, ça m'a saoulée :-)
En sortant du magasin Converse, je suis passée chez Dean & DeLuca juste à côté pour prendre un petit pique-nique à manger plus tard. J'ai pris un bon sandwich Tomates - Mozzarella. Vraiment bon.

I left the appartment around 10:30am heading to the Prospect Park in Brooklyn. But first, i wanted to visit the converse Store - 560 Broadway, metro Prince St (N, R) - to see if i could get some customized ones... I had to do it the first days of my stay, cause it takes 4 days to make them, so you don't wanna fail if you're there just for 1 week. The shop is pretty big, sobre, with numbers of models, and obviously, the famous wall of Converses.
In the end, i didn't do it : i didn't quite like the designs they offered, it wasn't that original in my opinion... And nothing with cats, just tigers but not friendly ones. You might bring your own design, but it has to be yours, meaning YOU have to design it and not print it from the internet, for copyright reasons. And i can't really draw, so yeah, f* it :-)
After that, i went to Dean & DeLuca right next to the Converse store to get lunch to eat later. I chose a Tomatoes - Mozzarella sandwich. Really good.
2) Prospect Park & Brooklyn Botanic Garden
J'ai ensuite pris la ligne 4 (verte) puis changé pour la ligne 2 (rouge) du métro direction Downtown & Brooklyn pour descendre à Grand Army Plaza. C'est une des entrées du parc, avec un moment qui ressemble un peu à l'Arc de Triomphe. Ensuite, j'ai traversé le parc, en suivant les chemins piétons et les routes intérieures. Je voulais aller au Brooklyn Botanic Garden, j'avais cru comprendre qu'il était situé au sein du Prospect Park. En fait, PAS DU TOUT. La balade n'était pas désagréable, mais ne le voyant pas venir, j'ai dû m'arrêter au niveau du Zoo, côté est du park à environ 1/3 de la longueur totale, où j'ai demandé mon chemin pour aller au Botanic Garden... Dont l'entrée est située sur l'Eastern Parkway, rue perpendiculaire au parc qui passe par la Grand Army Plaza !! Demi-tour, donc, et direction Grand Army Plaza via Flatbush Ave, qui longe le Propect Park côté est... C'est pas tout à côté, hein. Arrivée à Grand Army Plaza, direction l'est pour environ 200m, et j'ai trouvé l'entrée du Brooklyn Botanic Garden, à côté du Brooklyn Museum. L'entrée est à $10, et c'est vraiment joli : il y a un jardin Japonnais, une verrière avec différents climats représentés (le Steinhardt Conservatory), des plantes... J'avoue, je n'ai pas tout regardé, évidemment, mais je pense que ça peut intéresser pas mal de gens qui aiment le sujet. C'est plutôt grand, vraiment grand. J'ai fait de jolies photos, je me suis baladée, j'ai mangé quelque part ; en fait, on n'a pas le droit : on ne peut manger qu'au niveau du Steinhardt Conservatory sur l'aire dédiée, mais seulement ce qui est vendu par le resto-snack qui s'y trouve... Mais je ne savais pas. Je m'étais arrêtée au niveau de l'Alfred T. White Memorial, mais le gardien n'est passé par là qu'à la fin de mon sandwich (genre il restait 1 bouchée)... Il m'a donc laissé finir (comme Kanye). Mais ne le faites pas.

Then i took the 4 (green) then changed for the 2 (red) heading Downtown & Brooklyn, and stopped at Grand Army Plaza. It's one of the park entrances, with a monument Arc de Triomphe lookalike. Then i went into the park, using paths and inside roads. I wanted to go to the Brooklyn Botanic Garden, and i thought it was within the Prospect Park. Well, NOT AT ALL. I did enjoy the walk, but since i couldn't seem to find it, i stopped at the Zoo, eastside of the park about 1/3rd in, where i asked my way to the Botanic Garden... And its enrance is located on Eastern Parkway, perpendicular street crossing Grand Army Plaza !! U-turn, then, and off we go to Grand Army Plaza via Flatbush Ave, along the eastern side of the park... It's not a short walk. At Grand Army Plaza, turn east for about 200m, and you'll find the entrance to the Botalic Garden, right next to the Brooklyn Museum. It's $10 and really nice : there is a Japanese garden, a glass room with a representation of different climates (the Steinhardt Conservatory), plats... Ok, i didn't see everything, obviously, but i really think people who dig the topic would appreciate. It's pretty huge, really huge. I took some nice photos, walked around, ate ; actually, it's forbidden : the only area you can eat in is the restaurant - snack bar by the Steinhardt Conservatory, but only the food you bought there... But i didn't know. I had stopped at the Alfred T. White Memorial, but the security guy only came by when i was almost finished (like, one more bite left)... He let me finished (like Kanye). But don't do it.

3) Brooklyn Heights
J'ai fini mon petit tour du Botanic Garden, et vers 16h je me suis dirigée vers la suite du programme : Brooklyn Heights, Brooklyn Bridge Park et Brooklyn Bridge. J'ai repris la ligne 2 (rouge) dans l'autre sens (Uptown & Bronx) de la station Eastern Pkwy - Brooklyn Museum, devant le Botanic Garden, jusqu'à Clark St. Là, j'ai trouvé de jolis immeubles avec des escaliers de secours extérieurs comme dans les films, des rues calmes et arborées... Assez caractéristiques du quartier de Brooklyn Heights, apparemment. Très joli ! Le temps de faire quelques photos, mais je me rapprochais du Brooklyn Bridge et l'excitation était trop forte... Donc je n'ai pas traîné longtemps. Disons que c'était du repérage...
Tout droit sur Clark St, direction l'East River et la Brooklyn Heights Promenade qui surplombe la rivière et le Brooklyn Bridge Park. Joli point de vue sur le pont, mais il y avait de gros travaux en contrebas, juste avant le parc, donc pas idéal pour cette fois... Petit passage sur Columbia Heights à la fin de la promenade et accès au Brooklyn Bridge Park via le Squibb Park et une passerelle qui passe au-dessus des travaux.

I completed my little Botanic Garden tour, and around 4 pm headed to the next parts of the plan : Brooklyn Heights, Brooklyn Bridge Park and Brooklyn Bridge. I took the 2 (red) again direction Uptown & Bronx from Eastern Pkwy - Brooklyn Museum, in front of the Botanic Garden, to Clark St. There, cute buildings, with external fire escapes like the ones in the movies, peaceful streets with trees... Apparently quite specific from the Brooklyn Heights area. Very nice ! I took the time for some photos, but i was very impatient as i was getting close to the Brooklyn Bridge, so i didn't hang out for too long. Let's say it was a little reconnaissance...
On Clark St straight ahead, to the East River and the Brooklyn Heights Promenade, overlooking the river and the Brooklyn Bridge Park. Nice view from there, but big construction works at that moment, next to the parc, so not ideal for this time... A few steps on Columbia Heights at the end of the promenade, then access to the Brooklyn Bridge Park via the Squibb Park and a footbridge over the construction works.

4) Brooklyn Bridge Park
Ils sont forts en parcs... En aménagement de tout espace "vide" en parc. Le Brooklyn Bridge Park, ce sont les berges de l'East River côté Brooklyn, presque sous le Brooklyn Bridge, qui ont été aménagées avec bancs, espaces verts, jeux pour enfants, animations, et piscine provisoire l'été. On était dimanche, il n'y avait pas une foule incontrôlable, c'était agréable. Je me suis baladée, j'ai fait des photos, je me suis assise pour boire un peu (quelle chaleur !!!!)... Et attendre le coucher du Soleil...

They're good at parks... At developping empty spaces into parks. The Brooklyn Bridge Park is the East River bank Brooklyn side, almost under the Brooklyn Bridge, where they added benches, lawn, kids playgrounds, animations and a temporary pool during summer. It was a sunday, it wasn't crazy crowded at all, it was nice. I walked around, took some photos, sat down to have a drink (it was so hot !!!)... And waited for the Sun to come down...

Conclusion // All in all :
- Converse Store : pas beaucoup de designs à mon goût, pas si originaux que ça, et aucun talent personnel pour l'illustration => pas pour moi. Mais si vous savez exactement ce que vous souhaitez, dessinez-le et apportez-le leur ! Vous aurez VRAIMENT des chaussures uniques.
- Prospect Park : je n'ai fait que passer... C'est un beau parc, très grand, "petit frère" de Central Park.
- Brooklyn Botanic Garden ($10 adultes) : c'est beau ! Et probablement intéressant pour les gens qui s'intéressent aux plantes et aux fleurs. Une bonne balade agréable. Pas le droit d'y pique-niquer, par contre, sauf au niveau du restaurant-snack (si vous achetez sur place).
- Brooklyn Heights : joli quartier autour de Clark st (métro ligne 2 - rouge). Pas exploré à fond.
- Brooklyn Bridge Park : bien aménagé, sur les rives de l'East River, juste à côté du Brooklyn Bridge avec une vue imprenable. De qui boire et manger (un peu) sur place, quelques aménagements sportifs, pour les enfants...

- Converse Store : not so many designs i liked, not that original, and no personal skills at draxing => not for me. But if you know exactly what you would like, draw it and bring it to them ! You'll DEFINITELY have unique shoes.
- Prospect Park : I only passed through it... It's a beautiful park, pretty big, Central Park's "little brother".
- Brooklyn Botanic Garden ($10 adults) : beautiful ! And probably something interesting if you're into plants and flowers. A nice little walk. You can't bring your own lunch, though, you've got to go to the restaurant-snack bar.
- Brooklyn Heights : pretty area around Clark st (subway line 2 - red). I didn't go deep into it.
- Brooklyn Bridge Park : on the East River banks, breathtaking view of the Brooklyn Bridge. Nice equipments for sports, kids... You can also have a drink and eat (a little) there.
