- Jeudi 20.07 :

Le soir, on est donc sortis pour le "dîner d'adieu" de mon coloc. On a mangé dans un petit restaurant chinois, puis retour aux Three Monkeys. Cette fois, on était un peu plus nombreux que la dernière fois. C'était très sympa, mais bon, comme toujours, un peu tristou vers la fin... Mais pas trop, donc c'était cool.

- Thursday 07/20 :

In the evening, we went out for my roommate's "farewell diner". We ate in a small Chinese restaurant, then headed to the Three Monkeys. We were a bit more than the last time. It was nice, but as usual, a bit sad at the end... But not too much, so it was ok.

- Vendredi 21.07 :

Ca y est, le coup d'envoi des vacances a été donné !! Nous sommes parties le matin, comme prévu, à 7h36 (on a pris le train dans une gare après Central, ce qui nous a laissé quelques minutes de sommeil supplémentaires). Et c'était parti pour 15h non stop pratiquement. Nos voisins étaient assez mal élevés, du genre à mettre leur portable en radio assez fort sans demander à personne si ça les gênait, ou à battre les cartes sur la table : vous savez, 2 paquets séparés, on relève les 2 bords intérieurs et on laisse tomber les cartes comme elles veulent... C'est pas très clair, je sais, mais ce que vous devez retenir, c'est que ça fait "flap flap flap flap" à chaque fois qu'il bat les cartes... Et il le fait plusieurs fois à la fin de chaque partie !! De quoi devenir folle... A chaque gare on espérait qu'ils descendent mais ce moment n'est jamais arrivé, hélas... Pire que ça ! Quand on s'est arrêté à Casino à 18h30 pour changer du train au car pour arriver à Brisbane, qui c'est qui est monté dans le car avec nous ??? Nos chers voisins... Heureusement, il faisait nuit, dans le car, pas de lumière et pas de table... VICTOIRE !!

Enfin bref... Long voyage... Nous arrivons donc à Brisbane vers 22h45-23h (avec un peu de retard) et nous nous dirigeons vers l'auberge de jeunesse, pour trouver notre lit... Enfin, pensions-nous nous diriger vers l'auberge !! Parce qu'on s'était trompé de sens... Alors bon, comme ils disaient à 600m de la gare, on s'en est rendues compte au bout de 600m ou plus, pas trop longtemps, mais à 23h15 et nos gros sacs sur le dos, de quoi désespérer !! Enfin bon, on a fait demi-tour, remarché les 600m qui nous séparaient de la gare pour continuer sur les bons 600m qui nous conduiraient à l'auberge. On l'a trouvée, le code qu'on avait pour rentrer après les heures de fermeture de la réception a fonctionné, on a trouvé une enveloppe à notre nom (réception fermée), on a trouve notre chambre, notre lit, on s'est couché et on a dormi :o)

- Friday 07/21 :

It's the beginning of the holidays !! We left in the morning, as we planned, at 7:36am (we took the train in a train station after Central, which gave us a few more minutes of sleep). And we started our 15h non stop trip. Our neighbours were pretty rude, like putting their radio on pretty loud without asking anyone if it was a problem, or shuffling the cards on the table : you know, 2 separate parts, you lift each part and leave the cards go down as they're pleased... Not very clear, i know, but the point is that it goes "flap flap flap flap" every time he shuffles the cards... And he does it several times after each game !! Something to drive you crazy... We hoped they were going down at every stations, but this moment never happened, sadly... Worse than that ! When we stopped at Casino at 6:30pm to change from train to bus to Brisbane, who hopped on the bus with us ??? Our dear neighbours... Good news is : it was nighttime, in the bus, with no light or table... WE WON !!

So... Long trip... We arrived at Brisbane around 10:45 to 11pm (a bit late), and headed to the hostel, to find our bed... Well, we thought we were heading to the hostel !! Because we went the wrong way... So since they said 600m from the bus station, we realized we were wrong after about 600m, not top far away, but at 11:15pm, with your big backpacks, that's almost something to cry about !! Anyway, we went back 600m to the station, then walked the 600m in the right direction to the hostel. We found it, the code we had to open the door after reception hours worked, we found an enveloppe with our names, we found our room, our bed, and slept :o)

- Samedi 22.07 :

Il ne faisait pas très beau... On est quand même sorties, pour visiter Brisbane. Bon, eh bien Brisbane, c'est pas super génial, hein... On a suivi la marche de notre bien aimé guide Lonely Planet, histoire de faire un truc qui nous permettait de voir plusieurs aspects de la ville, et sensés être les plus importants, mais bon... Un peu déçues quand même, et contente de ne rester qu'une journée !! On est rentré à l'auberge vers 16h, fatiguées... Le temps s'était amélioré en début d'après-midi quand même, c'était cool, on n'a pas marché sous la pluie toute la journée. Et puis on a regardé encore le guide en se disant "Il y a bien quelque chose de sympa ici !!", et on a trouvé un autre quartier, où était sensé être concentrée l'activité, et les sorties, etc. On a donc décidé d'aller manger dans ce quartier : Fortitude Valley... Bon, eh bien même Fortitude Valley n'a pas vraiment trouvé grâce à nos yeux... Comme des grands-mères, on est rentré à l'auberge après manger, vers 21h30... La honte pour des djeun's quand même !!

South Bank Parklands était la meilleure partie de Brisbane. Il faut en fait rester plus longtemps et aller en dehors de Brisbane (Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary, ...).

- Saturday 07/22 :

The weather wasn't very nice... We still went out to visit Brisbane. Well, Brisbane is not super great, ok... We followed the itinerary offered by our beloved Lonely Planet, to see the many aspects of the city, and the important ones that is, but well... We were a little disappointed and were happy to stay just one day !! We net back to the hostel at 4pm, tired... But the weather had gotten better during the day, we didn't walk in the rain all day long. Then we looked in the guide again, thinking "there has to be something nice to do here !!", and found another area, where all the buzz is supposed to happen, nightlife, etc. And decided to go to eat in that area : Fortitude Valley... Well, even Fortitude Valley didn't deliver... Like grandmothers, we went back to the hostel after dinner, at around 9:30pm... That's a shame, we're supposed to be young !!

South Bank Parklands was the best part of Brisbane. It's actually better to stay longer and do things outside of Brisbane (Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary, ...).

- Dimanche 23.07 :

Aujourd'hui, c'est départ pour Hervey Bay, point de départ des excursions vers Fraser Island, où nous allons demain matin... Ca par contre, il paraît que c'est super génial, que c'est le 2e truc le plus génial en Australie, juste après Kakadu dans le Nord (parc national le plus grand et le plus connu d'Australie) d'après des gens que mon voisin avait rencontrés qui lui ont raconté...

- Sunday 07/23 :

Today, we leave to Hervey Bay, where the tours to Fraser Island start, that's what we're doing tomorrow... This plan seems to be a great one, like the 2nd best thing in Australia right after Kakadu National Park in the Northern Territory (biggest and most famous national park in Australia), according to what someone told the neighbour....
